For more than three decades, Don Bosco Lucknow has been a centre of hope, education, skill development, and compassionate care for young people in Uttar Pradesh. Inspired by the educational vision of St. John Bosco, the founder of the Salesians of Don Bosco, the institution is committed to empowering young people—especially the poor, the disadvantaged, and those at risk—through quality education, technical training, value formation, and holistic human development.
The Salesian presence in Lucknow began in 1991 at the invitation of Bishop Alan de Lastic, then Bishop of Lucknow, who generously offered land at Mohanlalganj for establishing a technical training centre for rural youth. Accepting this mission, Br. Cyriac Kuriakose arrived on 10 December 1991 and laid the foundation of what would become one of the region’s most respected centres for technical education and youth empowerment. He was joined by Fr. A. M. Jose in 1992, and together they pioneered the Salesian mission with remarkable dedication and simplicity.
From modest beginnings in a temporary tin shed, Don Bosco Lucknow has grown into a vibrant educational campus spread over nearly ten acres. Today it serves thousands of young people through technical education, professional skill development, driving education, hostel facilities, and rehabilitation programmes for vulnerable children.
The institution belongs to the Salesians of Don Bosco, one of the world’s largest educational and youth-serving religious congregations, serving in more than 130 countries. Every initiative at Don Bosco Lucknow reflects the Salesian educational philosophy known as the Preventive System, built upon three timeless pillars:

Today, Don Bosco Lucknow comprises four major ministries working together to transform lives:
Don Bosco Technical Institute (DBTI) – providing industry-relevant technical and vocational education.
Don Bosco Driving School – promoting safe, professional, and responsible driving.
Don Bosco Ashalayam – caring for children and adolescents in difficult circumstances.
Residential Hostels – offering a safe, disciplined, and value-based environment for students.
